Construction has begun on the birthplace of Buddha, in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Lumbini Nepal. The sanctuary will honour the Enlightened Ones who realized the way to peace within and peace without. It will serve as a radiant beacon, helping to inspire and guide individuals, communities, and nations toward harmonious coexistence and reconciliation.

ABOUT SHYALPA TENZIN RINPOCHE

While the Universal Peace Sanctuary is non-denominational, its visionary, His Eminence Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche is of Dzogchen Tibetan Buddhist lineage. He’s perfectly fluent in English because he taught and lived in US and Europe for years. He has been called the world’s best translator of sacred Dzogchen texts. He is the best-selling author of “Living Fully: Finding Joy in Every Breath”.

H.E. Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche was born in the foothills of the majestic Himalayas. His Eminence was recognized as a holy child and began training as a lama at the age of four. Rinpoche attended the Buddhist University in Sarnath, India, and received empowerment and transmissions from many of the greatest realized Buddhist masters. Rinpoche is a lineage holder of the Great Perfection, Dzogchen Tibetan Buddhism. His primary root teacher is His Holiness Chatral Rinpoche, Sangjey Dorje.

Shyalpa Rinpoche’s son, His Holiness the IXth Kyabgon Jedrungpa, was coronated at 8 years old as the 9th Reincarnation of the Tibetan king who brought Buddhism to Tibet, founded of the Tibetan Empire, and created the Tibetan alphabet - Songtsen Gampo (569–649).
