The Universal Peace Forum invites you to participate for the first time ever at one of the world's largest gatherings of peace lovers, scholars and educationists in Lumbini, Nepal from 21st to 23rd September 2023.

The Universal Peace Forum will bring more than 1,000 scholars, researchers, practitioners, artists, educators, businesspeople, political leaders, religious leaders, and communities together to reflect on the roots of peace and the future of humanity at the Sacred Garden where Prince Siddhartha (Lord Gautama Buddha) was born approximately 2,600 years ago.

The Universal Peace Forum has been envisioned by His Eminence Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche who is also the visionary founder of the Mahasiddha Sanctuary for Universal Peace in Lumbini. In 2013, the Nepalese government entrusted His Eminence with the task of developing a precious tract of land in UNESCO world heritage site, Lumbini, Nepal.

Rinpoche’s mantra is “make peace more fashionable than war.” Thus, Mahasiddha Sanctuary for Universal Peace and the upcoming first Universal Peace Forum 2023 are two very important and sacred endeavors. In these sacred spaces, we envision to reflect upon peace, humanity, compassion, and inner wisdom on the auspicious Day of International Peace. Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21st September. The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the day as a time for nonviolence and ceasefire.

On 21st September 2023, we collectively would like to share a rich exchange on the academic ideas of peace and practices of compassionate actions. Messages about peace, compassion, healing, meditation and wisdom have become more relevant and important than ever before. Ancient practices, indigenous knowledge, and histories of struggle offer wisdom that we cannot afford to ignore. Our participation at the Universal Peace Forum at Mahasiddha Sanctuary for Universal Peace on the auspicious day of international peace will honor the unconditional love that was expressed by great mother Maya Devi. This will also serve as a symbol of universal peace for visitors of every race, color, and creed.

The Universal Peace Forum 2023 is therefore an inspirational vision to gather together essential understanding for future practices according to current, historical, and indigenous wisdom.
